Eren: “Green sand is such a great choice for many aluminum castings. It delivers superb quality, excellent surface finish and super-fast production, at a much lower cost per casting than die casting.”
Per: “That’s because DISA green sand is an incredibly high-tech process. Our advanced, highly-automated machines make rock-solid moulds, creating on-spec castings that meet demanding quality requirements. The surface finish is similar to low-pressure die casting* and other permanent mould processes. But you get the high speeds and low costs previously only seen for high-volume iron casting production.”
Eren: “We’ve invested heavily in bringing the benefits of the super-efficient DISA green sand process to more aluminum casting categories. Over 30 global foundries already cast aluminum with DISA green sand. Short cycle times make it five times faster than die casting but fast pattern changes keep it flexible too. Core handling on DISA machines is fast and easy, so it’s perfect for complex, core-intensive castings.”
Per: “The green sand process suits both high volume production and jobbing foundries with short runs and lower volumes. Some of our customers produce less than 100t annually and others more than 10,000t.”
Eren: “Tooling is far cheaper than permanent moulds too. US aluminum caster BQC’s MATCH tooling costs 10% of permanent moulds, with six times the lifetime. For prototyping and short runs, plastic, aluminum or wood tooling costs even less. As a result, BQC have successfully helped their own customers switch products from die casting to green sand.”
