2013 - 2032 Sleeved Tie Rods

Some DISAMATIC 2013 and 2032 customers find advantages to the tie rod design with replaceable sleeves. If you are currently using or considering a switch to sleeved tie rods, DISA has an improved design you should consider.

Sleeved tie rods currently available to the market use a non-hardened base material with a hard chrome finish. The sleeves have a very thin 6 mm wall section, as they are made from a standard steel tubing material for cost savings. The soft steel base material under the chrome plating is easily dented causing premature failure of the sleeve and scraper failure. When the sleeve needs replacement they are difficult to remove due to rust formation between the sleeve and the tie rod. The damaged sleeves are not repairable so new sleeves must be purchased.

DISA offers tie rods and sleeves manufactured from hardened steel, (60 HRC). This greatly reduces the possibility of dents thus increasing useful life. DISA sleeves have a much thicker 17 mm wall section that offers several advantages:

  • DISA sleeves can be reconditioned to save money.
  • DISA sleeves have tapped holes to facilitate removal.
  • DISA Spare Parts Department offers an exchange program for replacement sleeves.
