SIMPSON TECHNOLOGIES ACQUIRES THE SAND LABORATORY TESTING EQUIPMENT BUSINESS OF DISA INDUSTRIE AG
Steinhausen, Switzerland - On 31st January, 2008 Simpson Technologies GmbH based in Steinhausen, Switzerland completed the acquisition of the DISA (formerly Georg Fischer) sand laboratory testing equipment product line from DISA Industrie AG in Schaffhausen, Switzerland. The sand testing equipment product line, which contains approximately 50 CE-certified and European standardized instruments, was developed by Georg Fischer AG of Schaffhausen, Switzerland over a period of many years. Later, the product line was transferred to DISA following their acquisition of the remaining shares in the joint venture Georg Fischer DISA in the year 2000. In the transaction, the production and support systems for the sand testing equipment business will transfer from the DISA facility in Schaffhausen to a new Simpson Technologies GmbH facility in Steinhausen, Switzerland. The nearly 900 m2 facility in Steinhausen will be equipped with a modern production department, a showroom/laboratory and a large spare parts warehouse to service the needs of all customers. Several experienced staff members connected to the product line in Switzerland and Germany will also transfer with the product line to Simpson Technologies in order to assure continuity in product production, superior product quality, timely service support and continued product line development. The addition of the former Georg Fischer DISA sand laboratory equipment product line together with Simpson’s own Simpson+Gerosa sand testing equipment product line, based in the United States, establishes Simpson Technologies as the largest supplier of foundry sand laboratory and control technology in the world. Together with the Simpson+Hartley online mixer group control and automation system, Simpson Technologies is well positioned to assist any foundry with an investment in high performance sand preparation quality control technology in both the laboratory and online in the sand preparation plant.
