Full homogenization of the sand and effective integration of water, bonding clay and additives is essential to precision moulding and mould integrity. DISA SAM turbine mixers are based on extensive experience and systematic trials addressing all aspects of modern sand preparation techniques in order to create the conditions for a perfect mix with uniform properties.
The most efficient way to mix green sand is by using a turbine mixer. The DISA SAM series of mixers feature a powerful turbine submerged deeply in the sand batch and mounted on an arm, which moves it around in the sand in a completely enclosed bowl, thus ensuring that all sand is passed through the turbine many times. Together with direct spraying of water into the aerated sand, this ensures a homogeneous mix of sand, water and additives.
The full DISA SAM mixer range features 13 mixer types covering throughput quantities of 15 to 150 t/h with batch weights from 500 to 5,000 kg.
Quality moulding sand
The DISA SAM mixer range enables high throughput rate, high mixing efficiency due to the circulating turbine rotator submerged deeply into the sand batch and short mixing cycles with controlled material feed. The range also delivers excellent energy efficiency due to reduced mass of moving parts.

Simple maintenance
The rugged design combined with ceramic lining of the walls and base of the bowl serve to reduce wear resulting in high availability and low service and maintenance requirements. When maintenance is required, the motor and gearbox located at the top together with a large door provide for good accessibility and easy replacement of parts, thus contributing to increased uptime.
Sand control
The mixer can be equipped with an automatic Sand Control System for adding water and bentonite in order to ensure optimum compactability and green compression strength. Water is dosed according to the result of a compactability test on the used sand and additive mixture prior to and during mixing. Green compression testing is also used to regulate the amount of bentonite.
The Sand Control System features a profibus connection for data exchange with the sand plant control system. This enables optimum integration into any sand circulation system.
Other equipment
The DISA SAM turbine sand mixer series also features a sand weigh hopper, an additive weigh hopper and an electronic mixer control system including dosing and weighing electronics. Optional equipment includes ceramic lining, a prepared sand hopper and bond injection.
